		<Abstract>In the last few of decades the rapidly expanding population of Hyderabad one of Indias major cities has brought with it a host of new transportation and traffic issues Buses and trains the current means of transportation are already at capacity and demonstrate the limitations of mass transit in these kinds of big cities so MRTS development is necessary There arent many MRTS projects in India but the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project HMRP stands out One of the first MRTS projects in India to use the publicprivate partnership PPP approach was the HMRP The project has overcome several obstacles during its many phases and is now nearing completion In order to better serve the people of Hyderabad and their transportation needs this article first explains why HMRP is important Next it aims to conduct an economic evaluation of the HMRP by using the Cost Benefit Analysis CBA methodology which is often used in conventional project feasibility studies to include socioeconomic factors According to the HMRP CBA the project has a positive CostBenefit ratio</Abstract>
